Material: Oil on board
Frame Size: 110cm x 70cm

Conditions: General – a crack on the left-top corner and a cockled on the right bottom corner (as per photos)
F.E. Gardner exhibited at the NZ Academy of Fine Arts from 1897-1899, according to their published records. It is a very accomplished work possibly of that period 1895-1910. This is an original signed oil painting. It’s very large and in an original rewarewa native timber wood frame. Its size is huge at 1100mm high and 700mm wide. For those who collect very rare New Zealand fine art old painting artists may be interested in this.
This is a very fine detailed oil painting of some of New Zealand traditional native botany and FE Gardner may have been an artist painting New Zealand Botany to be used coloured plate illustrations in very old NZ books. The painting is signed on the back. This is very special an original. Hard to see another one.. Not of this size.
OIL PAINTING – COCK FIGHT

It is definitely a painting, not a print. Clearly signed to the right hand corner.
Condition: Very good. The frame does show water marking in places, this does not in any way affect the painting itself.
